Georg squinted his eyes open; it was dark, and he was in bed. He peered at the bright green LED screen of his travel alarm clock, which he had next to every hotel bed. 4:19
There was a hot breath on the back of his neck.Gustav….
He attempted to change position; it was then that he felt it.
The drummer had an arm draped across his waist and was holding him close.
Georg knew he shouldn’t, but he did anyway.
He rolled onto his other side and snuggled into the younger boys chest, he wrapped his arms around Gustav and pulled himself closer, leaving no gap between them.
A soft noise of approval mewed out of the drummer, as he tightened his grip on Georg, aiming to keep him firmly in place.
Then they just lay there, Georg taking in Gustavs’ scent, breathing in time with him, becoming in sync.
Gustav started to slowly subconsciously rub the bassists’ back.
“Its ok…. Don’t cry…. I’m here now…” The drummer murmured in his sleep “Georg…. Georg…. Georg”
Georg smiled into the other mans bare chest. He does love me
Gustav cracked an eye open and was immediately greeted by a face full of Georgs wavy hair. He smiled as he leant down and kissed Georg on the head.
He smelt like Shampoo and cigarettes.
Gustav lovingly brushed some of the bassists’ hair off his face before leaning across and kissing him softly on the lips as he slept.
He carefully manoeuvred himself out of Georg’s grasp, and rolled out of the bed.
He walked over and turned on his laptop, before going over to his bag and getting his camera.
Gustav paused looking at Georgs sleeping form sprawled out on the bed; a grin spreading across his face.
He looked at the camera in his hands, and then back to the lump on the bed. He lined up the frame, then snapped a shot of sleeping Georg.
He retrieved his USB flash drive out of the secret pocket in his laptop bag, then sat down in one of the armchairs provided and waited for everything to turn on.
Gustav just sat there, watching Georg sleep. There was the occasional twitch and murmur, before he rolled over taking the entire duvet with him, turning himself into a little duvet ball.
Gustav chuckled lightly.
He plugged his camera into the USB port and transferred all his pictures from the previous day onto his computer; then he plugged his flash drive in.
- > Open folder
The folder popped up and the thumbnails appeared.
They all had one thing in common.
They were all of Georg.
He opened them one by one, staring at each one in turn. The grin on his face growing; he knew it was going to hurt later.
Georg eating a sandwich. Georg drinking coke. Georg tanning. Georg dancing down the aisle of the bus. Georg lifting weights. Georg flipping him off, grinning like a goof. Georg laughing.
The last one Tom had taken. It had been a surprise when he had uploaded it, he was unaware that it existed.
It was him and Georg; he was snuggled under Georgs arm, into his chest, and they were both asleep. Georg leaning against the window on the bus, Gustav snuggled into his side.
Gustav wiped his eyes clear. The last one always made him tear up.
He transferred sleeping Georg onto his flash drive, then hid it away again.
He got ready for the day.
With one last look at his watch, he gave sleeping Georg a kiss good bye and disappeared out the door.
Georg tightened his grasp around… nothing.
He rolled over.
For the second morning in a row, his bed was cold and empty.
He worked his way out of the duvet ball he was tangled in, swivelled around, then dropped his feet to the floor.Ouch! FUCK
He bent down and picked up the offending object.
It was his ring. What the fuck is that doing on the floor?
He placed it on his bedside table and then headed to the bathroom, wondering what this mornings’ note would say.
The bassist opened the bathroom door, eyes immediately darting to his straighteners.
His brow furrowed.
He was alone, with no note.Didn’t you want me to know you spent the night?
He backed into the bedroom, head spinning in search of his jeans; eyes instantly brightening when they made their way into his line of vision.Fuck underwear
He yanked them on and grabbed his hoody, pulling it over his head briskly.
He headed for the door, scuffing on his sandals as he went.
Something didn’t feel right.
He looked down.Fuck!
His hoody was on the wrong way.Why today?
He turtled himself and swivelled it around, before grabbing his key card, wallet and a hair tie and racing out the door.
The mirrors in the lift were very helpful; if not only for Georg to tell just how interesting his outfit was. It was then he realised they weren’t his sandals he had scuffed on; they were Gustavs’.
“Idiot” he grumbled.
Looking at himself again he pulled his hair back into a loose ponytail and sighed. This was as good as it was gonna get.
Un-straightened poofy kinky hair, a hoody and a crumpled pair of jeans with what looked like a chocolate mark on them.
He raised his eyebrows at himself.
The door dinged.
He let out a big breath and started walking briskly down the hall, he stopped just before the door to the bar.
It was 10 am, the bar had now turned into a Café.
He took one last deep breath; he was going to be a man about this.
He walked in, his eyes instantly finding the drummers blonde hair.
Gustav was with her
“Gustav?” he yelled across the Café, walking in his direction.
Georg couldn’t see much, but it looked like Gustav was looking at pamphlets.
“Gustav?” he questioned again, voice still raised.
The drummer spun around, his face lighting up. He raised an arm and beckoned for Georg to join them.
Georg picked up his pace, and got to the table just in time to see Gustav shove the pile of pamphlets into his bag.
“Hey” Gustav chirped, he seemed genuinely happy to see him. He looked the bassist up and down, a smile spreading across his face as he looked down at Georg’s feet. “You’re wearing my sandals” he sounded amused. “ And hoody”
“You must be Georg” the mysterious redhead spoke up. “I have heard so much about you.” She smiled at him, a fake plastic smile. You have got to be kidding me
“Yes, and you are?” The bassist feigned a smile, out stretching his hand.
“I’m Anna” She gripped his hand firmly, but quickly released it.
They shared another fake smile.
“Sit already” Gustav piped up, gesturing to the seat next to his.
They sat in an awkward silence for a few moments.
“How come you didn’t come down last night” Gustav questioned, breaking the silence.
“I…I got caught up with something” Georg stuttered as he picked up the menu.
Gustav could immediately tell he was lying, it was all in the eyes with Georg.
He put the menu down.
No point reading it, he wasn’t going to order anything.
“Did you hair straighteners break or something?” she laughed, obviously finding herself amusing.
Georgs head spun so fast in her direction, eyes topped with anger. What does Gustav see in her?
“No!” he retorted “I only straighten my hair when I’m working, and at the moment, obviously not working”
He stood up so suddenly he thought he saw Gustav jump.
“It was nice to meet you Anna” He nodded his head, his words laced with detest.
She was gaping at him.
“I’ll see you later Gustav” he mumbled, as he started to stride away.
He faintly heard Gustav excuse himself before he felt a hand grab onto his arm.
“Don’t I get a kiss good bye?” Gustav murmured softly into Georgs’ hair
“I saw you.” Georg stated, staring at his feet.
Gustav pulled him around so they were facing.
“Saw what?” the drummer questioned.
Georg raised his head up and met Gustavs’ eyes.
Gustav could see the hurt, the pain.
“I saw you kissing her” he paused. “Last night, at the bar.”
The pain in Georg’s eyes had deepened.
“She kissed me. She
.” He waited for that to sink in. “ I pulled away, told her I was taken” His voice had become very soft, he reached up and cupped the bassists left cheek with his hand.
The fact that they were standing in the middle of a very public café had been forgotten by both boys.
“I spent the rest of the night talking about you…” Gustav cooed.
“Really?” Georg whispered.
“Mmmhmm” Gustav nodded
She was watching them, she couldn’t hear much from their direction, just a faint murmuring.
But she could see it. Any idiot could see it.
The way they were together. The glances, the smiles, the sparkle they put in each other’s eyes.
If you tried to deny it you would have to be a fool.
But when Gustav leant in and softly kissed Georg on the lips it made her decision final.
She grabbed Gustavs’ bag off the floor, searching through it before finding her target.
She pulled out the pamphlet, then placed it on the table. She picked up her belongings and sneaked out the back way, a glorious grin on her face.
Georg slowly pulled away.
“We just kissed in a café, a public place” he spoke softly.
“Mmmmm” Gustav agreed.
“We are going to get in so much trouble if anyone finds out.” Georg laughed lightly, pulling Gustav into a hug, holding him tightly for a few moments before –
“Hey… where’d she go?” Georg spoke up, releasing the drummer from his grasp.
“Don’t know” Gustav murmured as he turned to look at the table.
He reached down, and laced his fingers through Georgs.
The drummer headed back toward the table; bassist in tow.
It was then that Gustav saw it, which pamphlet she had decided onAbout bloody time
He quickly grabbed it, put it on his chair and sat on it before Georg could see it.
“Who was she?” Georg asked, taking a seat close to Gustav.
“She was a really old friend from our music school. You replaced her in the orchestra” Gustav smiled, taking a sip from his orange juice. “ I called her and asked her to meet me cause I wanted help with something.”
“I could of helped you” Georg spoke up.
Gustav laughed lightly.
“No, you couldn’t of. She was helping me with a surprise for you.”
“Then why did she kiss you?” Georg was confused.
“That was a ‘Hello’ kiss that got too friendly, but I pulled away, remember?” Gustavs’ tone was reassuring.
“She was helping me plan a holiday for you, us. I couldn’t decide where I wanted us to go, she helped me make up my mind.” Gustavs’ eyes had softened, as he looked at the bassist lovingly.
“Oh?” Georg raised his eyebrows.
Gustav reached underneath himself for the pamphlet that would inform Geo on the location of their special holiday.
He placed it in front of Georg.
The bassists’ face lit up, his eyes sparkling. He leant across and kissed Gustav on the lips, just as-
“What the FUCK?”
